The Collection

The Town of Cambridge Oral History Collection, also known as Cambridge Voices, records and preserves the history of the Town through personal stories and experiences. With over 60 recorded interviews, the collection is filled with memories and historical anecdotes from people who have lived or worked in the local area.

A compilation of rich personal stories, such as tales about the Quarry Amphitheatre, picture theatres, the war time era, the old plank road and beach life, the Collection also includes interviews commemorating topics such as romance, remembrance and the Perth Commonwealth Games Golden Jubilee.

Watch the Perth Commonwealth Games Golden Jubilee oral history for interviews from athletes, volunteer drivers, coordinators, the original poster artist and more, played to a backdrop of beautiful old film footage and photographs.

You can listen to the oral histories online or loan them from our physical collection next to the audiobooks at Cambridge Library. Each oral history interview comes in a DVD case that includes two disks, one containing the audio of the interview in MP3 format (playable on most devices), and the other transcript of the interview in PDF format.
