About the collection

The Local Studies collection is housed in a purpose-built area within Cambridge Library.

The Local Studies collection contains books, reports, oral histories, photographs, maps, newspaper clippings and other items of local interest. Items in the collection are not available for loan but may be used within the Library.

Materials within the collection range from those suitable for use by primary school students through to those of a highly detailed and technical nature.

A digitisation program is underway to ensure as much of the collection is available online as possible.

How you can help

Our Local Studies collection is continuously growing. The collection relies very much on the help and contribution of our local community in building our knowledge bank and donations are always welcome from past and current residents, businesses, groups and organisations.

If you have items of interest, such as historical photographs or documents that you would like to donate we would be very grateful for your contribution. Alternatively we would be just as happy for the opportunity to copy and return your originals if you don't wish to part with them.

We also welcome background information to photographs that are already part of the collection or written accounts of early memories of the local area.
