What is RSS?

What are RSS feeds?

RSS feeds allow you to keep up to date on Library events and other additions to the website. RSS feeds are written in XML and require a news reader to read the feeds.

How do I get a news reader to read the feeds?

Most news readers can be found on the internet, are free to use and you can download and install a news reader of your choice. Alternatively, you can use a web-based reader such as Google Reader or My Yahoo!. Follow the instructions in your reader to subscribe to the feed of your choice. You will usually need to copy and paste the feed URL into the reader.

If you prefer to have a RSS reader that you can install on your computer, there are those such as Sharpreader that you might consider. NewsonFeeds.com has a list of Windows, Mac and cross platform compatible web and desktop RSS news aggregators.

Terms for use

We encourage the use of Cambridge Library RSS feeds for personal use in a news reader or as part of a non-commercial Web site or blog.
