National Archives of Australia
- The National Archives of Australia holds Federal Government records, including military service records, passenger lists, maps and photographs. Their archives index may be searched online using the "RecordSearch" facility, and requests may be made for specific records to be digitised and made available online. Many Western Australian records are housed in the WA branch of the National Archives in Victoria Park.

State Records Office (Western Australia)
- The State Records Office holds archival records of the State Government of Western Australia and Local Governments. These include rates books, property files, school attendance registers and council minutes. An index of records held may be searched using the "Aeon" search facility. Records may be ordered for viewing at the State Records Office on the ground floor of the Alexander Library Building in Perth.

State Library of Western Australia
- The State Library of Western Australia has a large collection of genealogical resources for all Australian states, New Zealand and Britain.and also international resources, particularly for New Zealand. These include birth, marriage and death indexes, cemetery records, convict records, immigration records, maps and newspapers. The Genealogy Centre is located on the first floor of the Alexander Library Building in Perth.

- A list of surviving Australian censuses and musters, and the institutions in which these records are now held.

Western Australian Post Office Directories
- Western Australian Post Office Directories from 1893 are available online from the State Library of Western Australia. These may be browsed by surname or by town and street address.

Metropolitan Cemeteries Board (Western Australia)
- Records for Guildford, Karrakatta, Midland, Pinnaroo and Fremantle Cemeteries may be searched by person's surname and firstname.

FreeBMD
- An index of Civil Registrations of births, marriages and deaths in England and Wales from 1837 onwards. The index is being transcribed from hardcopy by volunteers and is not yet complete. Click on the "Information" button to view the Coverage Charts that show the percentage of records so far transcribed for each year.

FreeCEN
- British censuses transcribed by volunteers. Click on the "Statistics" link to view a list of places and years for which transcriptions have been done. Search the database by surname, year and/or census place.

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints
- The Church's FamilySearch website may be searched for family history records from around the world, but particularly the UK and North America. Includes censuses, parish records, bishops transcripts and vital records (births, marriages, deaths).

- Gateway to online records and historical accounts from all around the UK. A wealth of information on all aspects of family history and the types of records that may be useful for research. Also links to newsgroups and mailing lists.

WorldConnect
- A searchable database of user-submitted family trees from all around the world. Be aware that information from secondary sources such as this should only be used as a guideline. Original records should be used to double-check the facts.

- Gateway to a wide range of free information and resources to assist the family historian, including guides, message boards, mailing lists, and links to searchable records databases.

Ancestry.com
- Normally a user-pays service, this site is available free from the public terminals within Cambridge Library. Explore your family history through Australian and overseas historical records, including census records, birth, marriage and death records, settler, convict and immigrant lists, directories and newspaper obituaries. Also available are photos, maps, and historical publications.
