Computer Training Classes
The library offers basic computer classes for adults.
This takes place on Thursdays or Friday afternoons from 1.00pm - 2.30pm in the library (Please check with the Service Desk for the course timetable and content).
The fee is $5.00 (incl. GST) per person.
Bookings are essential and you must be a library member to attend the classes.

Please note the $5.00 booking fee will still apply when less than 24 hours notice of non-attendance is given.
Class Descriptions

Lesson 1 - Mouse Skills The purpose of this class is to introduce the mouse to new computer users. This is done through the online "Mousercise" exercises to practice the hand-eye co-ordination required to use a mouse effectively, as well as an introduction to the processes of ‘drag-and-drop" and highlighting text.
Lesson 2 - Basic Computer skills This course is suitable for beginners who are new to computers. The course aims to introduce the basics of a computer system and the function and operation of related hardware. Please ensure that you have a basic knowledge of how to use a mouse. Lesson 3 - How to create, save and edit your work This is a course to teach participants how to create, edit and save their work in Microsoft Word. Participants will learn basic MS Word functions as well as certain short cuts, tips and tricks to make creating and editing Word documents faster and more fun!
Lesson 4 -Basic Internet - What is surfing the web? The World Wide Web is growing in size by the second! How can you properly navigate this growing mass of information to find what you want? This course will introduce participants to web surfing and use search engines to find what they want without getting an information overload!
Lesson 5 - How to email family and friends This course will introduce the basic concept of email and teaches participants how to create, edit, send and receive emails. Participants will also be taught how to set up a web-based email account if they do not have one.
